2025 DAISY Award Recipients
Pomerene Hospital Honors 2025 DAISY Award Recipients
Pomerene Hospital is proud to announce that Alysia Hershberger, RN, and Charles Wilbur, RN, have been honored with the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, a national recognition celebrating the compassionate, skillful care nurses provide every day.
Alysia Hershberger began her career at Pomerene in 2017 as a unit assistant and has grown into a trusted nurse and leader, earning her RN in 2022. She currently works on the Medical-Surgical Unit and is cross-trained in the Special Care Unit (SCU). Alysia serves as a preceptor for new team members and is known for her calm, encouraging presence even in high-pressure situations. Her dedication, leadership, and genuine care for patients and staff alike make her a valued member of the Pomerene team.

Charles Wilbur joined the Emergency Department in 2023, relocating from South Carolina with his wife, Georgina, and daughter, Isabella. In a short time, Charles has become a respected colleague and a steady, compassionate caregiver to patients in critical moments. He brings a wealth of experience and insight, consistently going above and beyond to support both his patients and team.
The DAISY Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick received from nurses during his illness inspired the creation of the DAISY Foundation, which now partners with over 4,600 healthcare organizations and nursing schools worldwide to recognize extraordinary nurses.
