What Is an EEG?

Pomerene An EEG (electroencephalogram) is a safe, painless test that records the electrical activity of your brain. Your brain constantly produces tiny electrical signals known as brain waves. During an EEG, specialized sensors detect and record these signals, allowing providers to evaluate how your brain is functioning.

Our EEG Technology

Zeto® Wireless EEG Headgear

Instead of traditional EEG equipment that requires multiple wires and sticky paste, we use Zeto® headgear technology.

The lightweight headset:

• Fits comfortably on your head

• Uses soft sensors to record brain activity

• Requires no messy gel or glue

• Allows for a quicker setup process

• Securely transmits data for specialist review

This modern approach improves comfort while maintaining the high-quality recordings providers need for diagnosis.

Conditions EEG Testing Can Help Evaluate

Neurological Conditions

EEG testing provides providers with a real-time look at how your brain is functioning.

Sleepy or Drowsy EEG Testing

For some EEG studies, your provider may request a sleepy or drowsy EEG.

During this test, you may be asked to become sleepy or fall lightly asleep while brain activity is being recorded.

Why Is This Important?
Brain activity changes during drowsiness and sleep. Certain neurological conditions may only become visible when a patient is tired or asleep.

Your care team may ask you to:

• Limit your sleep the night before the test

• Relax in a quiet room during the exam

• Try to nap during the recording

Your provider will give you specific preparation instructions if a drowsy EEG is ordered.
