Why Women’s Health Care Matters at Every Age
Women’s health care is not the same for everyone, and it changes over time.
Needs can shift from routine checkups to pregnancy care, family planning, and support during menopause. Steady care close to home helps women stay healthy and address concerns early.
Mary Beth Marburger is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Pomerene Women’s Health Services located in Berlin where she works alongside the midwives and OBGYN physicians to provide optimal care to the ladies of the community. She focuses on listening carefully, answering questions clearly, and helping women take practical steps to protect their health.
“Women’s health is about caring for the whole person, not just one visit or one season of life,” Marburger said. “My goal is to help women understand what is happening with their bodies. I also want to support them in staying active and well for the long term.”
Women often come in with concerns like changes in their monthly cycle, ongoing discomfort, or other symptoms that don’t seem normal. These concerns are common, but they should be checked rather than ignored. Early care can bring relief and peace of mind. It can also lead to simpler treatment when needed.
Marburger also provides care during pregnancy and after delivery. Patients can come in to confirm pregnancy, begin early care and education, keep up with regular checkups, and return for follow-up after birth. Counseling before pregnancy is available as well.
Preventive care is a key part of women’s health. Yearly visits focus on routine exams, recommended screenings, and guidance on cancer prevention and bone health. Patients can talk through daily habits such as food, movement, and weight management. Family health history can also help guide care.
“No matter your stage of life, consistent checkups help you stay ahead of problems and keep doing what you love,” Marburger said.
