24/48 Hour Holter Monitor
This monitor records for 24 or 48 hours continuously and you will record any symptoms you obtain. This may include palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, light-headedness, or dizziness. The symptoms and the heart rhythm are then compared.
What to Expect
- The process will take 10-15 minutes for the nurse to attach the monitor patches and wires.
- The nurse will go over all the symptoms to log.
- During the monitoring time: DO NOT shower, bath or swim. You may sponge bath only.
Preparation
- Do not use body lotion on chest prior to appointment.
7-30 Day Event Monitor
This monitor records heart rhythm during episodes of palpitations, heart racing, or to detect changes in your heart rhythm. This is done automatically or can be done by you pushing a button during a symptom.
What to Expect
- The process will take 10-15 minutes for the nurse to attach the monitor patches and wires.
- The nurse will go over the symptoms to log.
- The monitor patches are changed daily and allow for bathing.
