Nuclear Medicine
This branch of medicine uses radioisotopes in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of disease. A radioisotope is introduced into the body, usually by means of intravenous injection and the isotope is attracted to specific organs, bones or tissues. Gamma rays are emitted and detected by a special type of camera that forms images that provide data and information about the area of body being imaged. Nuclear exams available at Pomerene Hospital are:

- Hida Scan
- Liver/Spleen Scan
- Liver Hemangioma Scan
- Lung Scan (Ventilation/Perfusion)
- Lymphoscintigraphy or Sentinel Node
- Miraluma (Breast)
- Muga Scan
- Parathyroid Scan
- Renal Scan
- Thyroid Scan
