Joel Pomerene Foundation Awards $4,000 to Area Graduates
Millersburg, OH - The Joel Pomerene Foundation is proud to award four $1000 scholarships to 2009 graduating seniors of area high schools. Each application was reviewed by the selection committee for academic excellence, financial need, ACT/SAT scores, and extracurricular activities/community involvement. Eligibility for the awards included the applicants entering a health-related field of study, and enrolled in a 4-year or a technical 2-3 year school.
The Joel Pomerene Foundation (JPF), founded in 1995, is responsible for the fundraising efforts of Pomerene Hospital. JPF's goal in awarding these scholarships is to assist local students pursuing a healthcare career at each of the four high schools in Pomerene Hospital's service area. Graduating seniors from West Holmes, Hiland, Garaway, and Loudonville were eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The following seniors were chosen by the Joel Pomerene Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee based on their achievements within their high school careers. A scholarship awards luncheon was held on June 4, 2009 at Pomerene Hospital to recognize these four individuals:
Alex Christian Miller, West Holmes High School
Patrik N. Miller, Hiland High School
Jessica Nicole Sprang, Loudonville High School
Tara Lynn Smith, Garaway High School
Pomerene Hospital is a 55-bed facility serving the residents of Holmes and surrounding counties. Pomerene Hospital is located at 981 Wooster Road in Millersburg.
