Pomerene Hospital and Other Community Organizations Offer Free Pap Tests and Mammograms
Pomerene Hospital, along with the Holmes County Health Department, Trinity BCCP, and the Northeast Ohio division of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, will offer free pap tests and mammograms to those who qualify on April 27, 2011.
Patients must meet eligibility requirements to receive a free pap smear and mammogram. Pap smears will be given at the Holmes County Health Department and mammograms will be given at Pomerene Hospital. Transportation Assistance will be provided on request.
One of the best ways to detect breast cancer is by having a mammogram. The National Cancer Institute recommends that women age 40 or older should have screening mammograms every one to two years.
The American Cancer Society recommends women undergo annual pap smears once they turn 18. Yearly pap smears can detect cervical cancer in women during the early stages of the disease. Like most cancers, cervical cancer treatment is more effective if it is caught early on.
Please call Janet at 1-800-921-5151 to see if you qualify for these free tests and to schedule an appointment. Appointments must be made prior to April 27th.
