Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)- Open Bore MRI
Pomerene Hospital is pleased to announce the introduction of its new open bore MRI. The Espree open bore MRI provides a comfortable experience that is more accommodating and less confining than closed MRI units.
The bore opening, which is nearly 2.3 feet in diameter, provides almost one foot of free space between a patient's head and the magnet, offering much ease of mind with claustrophobic patients. More than 60% of exams are completed with the patient's head outside the bore.
Please note, a physician order is required.
MRI is an advanced, state-of-the-art diagnostic test which produces images of the body without the use of x-rays. MRI uses a powerful, but harmless, magnetic field and radiowaves to produce the images. Time required for a MRI scan is approximately 20-60 minutes, depending upon the exam.
