Coordinating Council

The Pomerene Hospital Coordinating Council implements and maintains standards of clinical nursing practice and patient care consistent with evidence-based practice and requirements of regulatory agencies.

The purpose of the Coordinating Council is to:

• Delineate the scope of nursing practice at Pomerene Hospital

• Focus on hospital wide nursing practice, standards, research, and quality

• Recommend changes in nursing policies, procedures and standards of care using evidence based research

• Consult on interdepartmental processes that impact patient care

• Participate in the review of and communication regarding new clinical products and equipment

• Provide input for the revision and approval of nursing documentation standards and policies and procedures

• Provide a "voice" for nursing staff at Pomerene Hospital

• Elevate the role of the professional nurse at Pomerene Hospital

Members shall all be nurses to include but not be limited to the following:

• VP of Patient Services/Chief Nursing Officer
  

• 1-2 Unit Managers/Directors

• Unit Council Chair and Co-chair from Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care, Surgery, OB, MedSurg/SCU

• Representatives from Quality, Radiology, Employee Health, Training and Development

• A staff nurse from Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care, Surgery, OB, MedSurg and SCU

• Former Coordinating Council Chair
